Programs and Fundraising Activities

Programs

  • Vision and Hearing Financial Assistance
  • This provides assistance to residents of our local area for needs such as eyeglasses, exams, hearing aids, tests, exercises and other hearing and vision needs. Please use our online form or email us at info@FairburyLionsClub.org for more information.

  • Camp Lions
  • We are excited to be able to support Camp Lions. This is a unique summer experience, hosted by the Lions of Illinois Foundation, which is designed for kids with vision and hearing impairments. Camp Lions provides a safe environment for kids with special vision and hearing needs to relax, make new friends, and have fun expanding their independence and self-confidence. Because of our support, and other Lions Clubs, there is only a nominal deposit required to hold the camper's reservation. Campers must be between the ages of seven and 17, and must have either a vision impairment of 20/200 (after correction) and/or a hearing impairment which requires daily usage of communication alternatives such as sign language or lip reading*. All Camp Lions Counselors are selected for their experience with children with disabilities, are at least 18 years old and are American Red Cross Certified in CPR and First Aid; most are fluent in sign language; health care staff are present at each camp.

There are three campsites - one in northern Illinois, central and southern Illinois. Activities offered range from swimming, horseback riding, archery, water sports, nature hikes, games, arts and crafts, cookouts, hayrides, singing, campfires, beeper baseball, captioned movies, and other team-building events.

*Other requirements apply - please contact us for more information if you are interested in attending!
